The military compass is designed for orientation on land and water. The design of the compass is liquid (the solution is close in composition to kerosene); a distinctive feature of such compasses is the speed at which the needle stabilizes. The dial is floating, disc, phosphorescent in the dark - for ease of use. Also, for the convenience of measurements, a viewfinder is provided in the body, through which a double scale with azimuths marked in both directions is observed.
The main dial has two scales:
1st: 360°, division value 5°
2nd: 6400 mils with a division value of 40 mils (“zeros” are not indicated, only hundreds are indicated on the scale: 2;4;6, etc.)
The compass is convenient to use both open and closed (thanks to the viewing window in the lid and the protruding ring for setting the azimuth).
A goniometric scale is etched into the window to determine the distance between visible objects; the formulas are given on the back side of the compass case.
There is a 5 cm ruler marked on the side of the compass.
The liquid level and 1/4" tripod thread allow you to mount the compass on a tripod with precise alignment of the horizon line.
